Its All About The Hardware

As I read the successive (and so incredibly well written!) blogs about Infineta’s presentation at Networking Field Day # 3, its clear why people seem to be avidly reading these deeply technical blogs, but hate to read white papers from industry analysts.

Infineta Unveils Breakthrough Reduction Technology

Company’s PURETM (Post-Undifferentiated Reduction Enhancement) Is Massively Effective Data Reduction Technology for 100 Gigabit Links

SAN JOSE, Calif. — April Fool's Day, 2012 — Infineta Systems (“Infineta”) today introduced its groundbreaking PURETM technology for data reduction on an unprecedented scale. Designed to eliminate transport layer round-trips, PURETM will allow organizations to successfully avoid bandwidth saturation, eliminate the effects of latency on transport protocols, and achieve the industry's highest possible level of reduction in a small, cost effective footprint.

Infineta in the spotlight at Networking Field Day on 3/29

Infineta will be a beehive of activity this coming Thursday. We will be testing our technical mettle in front of a number of bloggers who will be visiting our offices as part of Gestalt IT’s Networking Field Day (NFD). NFD, as most of you may know, is a unique event that connects select IT product vendors and independent thought leaders. We will showcase our Big Traffic WAN optimization solutions to a group of networking gurus who aren’t afraid to roll up their sleeves, take the covers off our award-winning technology, and ask probing questions. This is going to be a no holds barred, no-fluff session that couldn’t be more different than your typical marketing event.

Patent # 8,078,593: Dictionary Architecture and Methodology for Revision-tolerant Data De-duplication

I must confess - I was quite surprised when this deduplication (“dedupe”) related patent was granted barely two years after we filed it! That too in a field littered with patent applications – every other company seems to have filed one (and in some cases, many more).

Top 10 Blog Posts of 2011

2011 has been a memorable year here at Infineta. Here are a few things that come to the top of my mind:

Wrapping up Storage Decisions & IT Roadmap shows

What a busy couple of weeks at Infineta! Between tons of analyst briefings and ongoing marketing programs, we sponsored two phenomenal technology conferences close to home – Storage Decisions in SF last week, and IT Roadmap in San Jose yesterday.

In talking to a number of attendees from some large enterprises at these conferences, I noticed a very interesting commonality: Even though these enterprises already use branch WAN optimization solutions, most of them are actively looking at alternative solutions to optimize their inter-data center WANs. These organizations had concluded that the same WAN opt solutions that are effective in accelerating branch traffic do a pretty poor job of accelerating inter-data center WAN traffic.

Quick Note From The Field

I used to love watching “A” Team reruns when I was a kid. I always loved how the team would design some ingenious contraptions using “off the shelf” items and take down much larger opponents. My favorite part in every episode was when Hannibal Smith would light up a cigar towards the end and say: “I love it when a plan comes together.”

Our in-field trials are progressing extremely well, and we are successfully proving our performance claims in customer environments. The sales team is keeping us all extremely busy with customer meetings and the interest level is rising steadily.

If you have any specific queries for any of us here at Infineta, please feel free to drop me an email (haseeb at infineta dot com) and I’ll be happy to get your question(s) addressed.

I love it when a plan comes together. :-)

Deduplication and Compression – Different, But Complementary

Don MacVittie, a former editor for a major IT industry publication, currently manages technical marketing initiatives at F5 Networks. My colleagues and I are regular readers of Don’s informative, timely, and (quite frankly) enjoyable articles.

Don recently wrote a piece on F5’s DevCentral site, in which he compared deduplication and compression, two data reduction technologies used by WAN optimization solutions, and how they are complementary. I presented similar content to our field guys back in October of 2010, and as we typically do, we recorded the session and shared it for the world to see. The video is linked below:
