Velocity Policy Engine™

Because Infineta appliances are built on top of a massive scale, fully non-blocking switch fabric, they can make precise traffic management decisions at wire speeds. Key features of this switch fabric are:

  • Traffic selection – The switch fabric is equipped with a highly granular, policy-based engine that can select traffic to be accelerated from the total traffic being received. Traffic that matches a configured policy is passed on to other hardware sub-systems for further processing. Unmatched traffic is switched out of the system without any incurred latency.
  • Traffic prioritization & scheduling – Traffic matching a configured acceleration policy can be classified into one of eight QoS Profiles. Each profile carries a unique priority that becomes relevant in the face of network congestion. Additionally, each profile can be processed using strict or deficit-round-robin priorities, with configurable weights for further fine-tuning.
  • Bandwidth availability assurance –Depending on configured policy, the switch fabric can allocate minimum bandwidth resources for QoS Profiles. As an example, this feature enables lower-priority traffic to be guaranteed a minimum share of the WAN even if the more time-sensitive, critical traffic is aggressive enough to be able to fill the entire WAN if allowed.
  • Flexible deployment – The massive scale nature of the switch fabric allows Infineta appliances to be deployed in-line with data center traffic without any risks. Infineta appliances can carry out all the traffic management decisions discussed above at line rate even in the face of sustained traffic bursts.
