Velocity Dedupe Engine™
Infineta’s Velocity Dedupe Engine is the first-ever, massively parallel, hardware-based data deduplication (“dedupe”) technology designed for multi-Gigabit WAN traffic. Unlike traditional software-based implementations, the Velocity Dedupe Engine is the first-ever dedupe implementation in programmable logic. This unique approach results in unparalleled throughput while incurring extremely low latencies, with very high dedupe ratios maintained at any speed.
The Velocity Dedupe Engine is made up of wholly new, patent-pending data dedupe algorithms. Key features are:
- Byte-level pattern identification – Carry out true byte-level matching (smallest match is 8 bytes) at wire speed without incurring any measurable latency. Even the smallest of changes in inter-data center traffic are identified in order to deliver the highest levels of WAN traffic reduction.
- In-place updates – Perform in-place updates of repeating byte patterns in the dedupe dictionary, resulting in an optimally utilized deduplication system.
- Massively parallel design – Find duplicate traffic patterns by using massively parallel engines for sustained data reduction ratios at very high speeds.
With the Velocity Dedupe Engine at their core, Infineta's products enable customers to accelerate all inter-data center traffic while reducing overall WAN costs incurred due to this growing, bandwidth-hungry traffic.
