Reduction Assessment Tool

Infineta’s Reduction Assessment Tool (“RA Tool”) allows you to easily, securely, and non-intrusively evaluate the level of data reduction that the Data Mobility Switch (DMS) can deliver for the unique data running over your inter-data center WAN links.

The RA Tool is a software-based facsimile of the multi-stage reduction that has been implemented in hardware within the DMS. Each reduction stage (repeat byte suppression, Infineta’s patented Velocity Dedupe Engine™, and compression) has been implemented within the RA Tool to ensure that the results produced by tool are the same as the results that the DMS will produce once it is deployed in the customer’s network. Instead of relying on product literature or “benchmark” results from other vendors, you can reliably use the RA Tool to ascertain how well the DMS can accelerate all your inter-data center traffic.

Simple & Speedy Deployment

The RA Tool can be deployed in a matter of minutes off of a mirrored port on a core or distribution switch. Typical deployments look as follows:

Our engineers will help you with the minimal configuration required for the RA Tool to provide real reduction results for your inter-data center WAN traffic.

Reduction reports available via the RA Tool User Interface

  • Upon completion, the tool generates a PDF report that can be used to review the reduction value that the DMS will deliver for your inter-data center WAN traffic.
  • This report will also break down results by application type so you can make informed decisions about the performance improvements expected for each application.

Risk-Free reduction analysis

  • By processing WAN traffic that is being mirrored to it, the RA tool can provide reduction results while being completely out of the picture with respect to the actual traffic flow. This makes the RA Tool 100% non-intrusive.
  • The RA tool stores no data from the processed packets on disk, enabling customers to use it without risk of data leakage.
  • Once all testing is complete and the PDF-based results have been downloaded, the tool exposes a “Shred Data” option via the UI and CLI. This option can be used to reliably erase all statistical information collected by the tool while it was running, including IP address information for connections seen by the tool. This option makes the RA Tool entirely safe and usable even within the strictest security policy frameworks.

Easy. Secure. Quick.
